CALGARY OPERATION STARTS UP IN FEBRUARY, 2006 December, 2005
Parsec will start up an operation in Calgary, Alberta, for Canadian Pacific on February 1, 2006. The terminal, which is only five years old, will handle an estimated 12,000-plus lifts per month, or around 145,000 per year, with a crew of around 35 people.
The new terminal will also have brand-new Parsec lift equipment, says General Manager Mike Collette. “There will be five Taylor side-loaders and an empty handler. Parsec purchased six pieces of Taylor lift equipment for the project totaling 2.5 million."
Rick Fuessel from Vancouver and David Cairns from Winnipeg have been involved with the start-up and have been in and out of the facility since December 5th. Two trainers, Darrell Pederson from Vancouver and Rob Woodard from Winnipeg, were also involved since the beginning of December, working with CP rail to get a good understanding of the facility. They then returned to their home terminals to get the members of the transition team up to speed.
“We look forward to adding Calgary CIF to our group of successful CP Rail Operations,” Mike says. “This operation will continue to strengthen our presence and commitment to operations throughout Canada.”
